Vineyard and terroir
The Baluchin vineyard lies at Bric Micca in Neive, at 380 m. Its steep 45–55% slope faces south to south-west.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
Harvest and vinification begin in early October. Maceration and fermentation take place together for 7–8 days in horizontal fermenters under controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in medium-toast French oak barriques. The wine is neither clarified nor filtered before bottling.
Ageing
Maturation lasts 20–22 months in medium-toast French oak barriques, followed by approximately three months in stainless-steel tanks. After bottling, the wine rests for several years before it is ready to drink.
Technical data
Barbaresco DOCG Riserva. Alcohol: 14.5% vol.
Tasting profile
Garnet and ruby hues. Aromas of roses and ripe fruit are accompanied by fresh balsamic notes. The palate is full-bodied and well structured, with soft tannins, a silky texture and a long, persistent, silky finish that combines structure with elegance.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 16–18 °C. Pair with roasts, fine meats, game and deeply savoury dishes, or enjoy on its own as a contemplative wine.
