Questo vino

Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from the hills of Frisa, 250 m above sea level, on limestone and clay soils with a coastal microclimate. The name "Filare" means "row of vines" in Italian and refers to the estate's orderly vineyards. The wine is certified organic by ICEA (IT-BIO-006.380-0005218.2024.002).

Grapes

100% native Trebbiano d'Abruzzo.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand in the last ten days of September. After gentle pressing, the must undergoes low-temperature maceration on the skins for 15–20 days. Fermentation is controlled and takes place in stainless steel tanks. The wine sees no barrel ageing. This approach preserves the wine's natural fruit, bright acidity and light mineral note.

Tasting profile

Fresh, light and clear, with natural fruit, bright acidity and a light mineral note.

Label / history

"Filare" means "row of vines". Collefrisio is run by two young members of the third generation of winemakers. It farms 35 ha in three vineyards in the Abruzzo hills:

  • Tenuta Valle del Moro, 12 ha in the Moro Valley, with well-drained, stony limestone soils. Montepulciano and Trebbiano are grown here. The estate, the new cellars and a terrace overlooking the valley, which runs from the Majella range to the coast, are also on this site.
  • Tenuta Morrecine, 12 ha on stony soil between the hills of Ortona and Tollo, overlooking the sea. It grows the same varieties.
  • Tenuta Giuliano Teatino, 11 ha on the slopes of the Majella range, closer to the Venna River valley. Montepulciano and Pecorino are grown here in red clay soils.

The winery works organically, without chemical treatments, and begins harvesting only when the grapes are fully ripe. Its cellars were built entirely underground, beneath an uprooted vineyard. This keeps temperatures naturally low, and some areas have air conditioning to balance temperature and humidity. The winery also has a research laboratory and a tasting room.
