Vineyard and terroir

The Vermentino and Grechetto come from new vineyards at Castello ColleMassari, planted at 300 m above sea level. The estate lies at the foot of Monte Amiata in the Montecucco area of Upper Maremma. Its 1,200 ha include 110 ha of vineyards.

Vinification

Fermentation takes place in cellars equipped with adjustable temperature and ventilation. The vertically arranged facility extends underground across almost 6,000 m².

Ageing

The wine matures in oak barrels for one year, followed by six months in bottle.

Castello ColleMassari is a medieval castle with origins dating to the Renaissance. Claudio Tipa took over management of the estate in 1998.
