Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the lower part of Monfaletto, at 220 m above sea level. The east-facing vineyard was planted in 1987 and has clay soil with a high alkaline content.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand from late August to early September. After destemming and gentle pressing, the must ferments in stainless-steel tanks for one week at 15–16 °C. Malolactic fermentation takes place on the lees in oak barrels at low temperatures.
Ageing
The wine remains in oak barrels for around nine months. After bottling, it ages for a further ten months in the cellar before release.
Label / history
The history of Cordero di Montedzemolo began in 1920 at the historic Monfalletto estate, which passed from the Falletti family to the Montedzemolo family. Grapes were cultivated and wine was made at the family’s Castiglione Falletti castle as early as the Middle Ages. Today the company owns 26 ha of vineyards in the Langhe department and produces only DOCG and DOC wines.
