Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Vigna Martiena, La Ciarliana and La Piaggia vineyards in Montepulciano, at elevations of 250–350 m. Their soils are a mixture of clay and tuff, and the vines are 15 years old on average.
Grapes
The blend contains at least 70% Sangiovese, with other red varieties including Canaiolo.
Vinification
Following gentle pressing, fermentation takes place with native yeasts in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26–28 °C. The wine remains on the skins for 15–25 days, with regular pumping over.
Ageing
The wine matures in oak barrels for 12–18 months, followed by further ageing in bottle. The total maturation period is 24 months.
Label / history
The estate first bottled Vino Nobile Montepulciano in 1985.
