Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The vines grow on the slopes of Montepulciano, in the clay and tuff soils of the "Vigna Martiena", "La Ciarliana" and "La Piaggia" vineyards. The Sangiovese is organic.
Grapes
Sangiovese makes up at least 70% of the blend, with Canaiolo and Mammolo.
Vinification
The grapes are gently pressed, then fermented naturally in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats. Maceration lasts up to 25 days. The wine is made according to regional traditions.
Ageing
Two years in oak barrels, followed by a further six months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Aromas of cherry and plum, with delicate notes of violet and spice. The tannins are rounded yet noticeable. The wine is harmonious already.
Label / history
The Dei estate owns four plots totalling 100 hectares in Montepulciano, Tuscany. A third of the land, in the most favourable sites, is planted with vines. The estate bottled its first wine, Vino Nobile Montepulciano, in 1985. Under Caterina Dei and her team the estate works with native varieties and also makes blends, such as "Sancta Catharina".
