Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Valpolicella Classica. The ripest bunches undergo appassimento, a natural drying process central to the area's traditional winemaking.
Grapes
Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella.
Vinification
The wine is produced from naturally dried grapes. This appassimento tradition gives Recioto its concentration and sweetness.
Tasting profile
Ruby red with purple reflections. The nose is intensely fruity, led by raspberry, black cherry, plum and damson. The palate is richly sweet, soft and creamy, while retaining balance rather than becoming cloying. Warm raisin notes emerge on the finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 14–16 °C. Pair with dry, biscuit-like pastries including Sbrisolona, Cantucci and Zaletti, or with blue and sharp cheeses served alongside fruit chutneys or preserves.
Label / history
Recioto has an ancient history associated with the Roman-era Rhaetian wine celebrated by Latin poets. A symbol of Valpolicella Classica and its appassimento tradition, it is regarded as the precursor of Amarone.
