Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from Vigna del Bruciato, trained to spur-pruned cordon. Production is limited to approximately 800 g per vine. Harvest runs from early September until mid-October and is carried out by hand.

Grapes

40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc.

Vinification

The fruit is gently destemmed and handled carefully before spontaneous fermentation with the yeasts naturally present on the grapes. Maceration lasts approximately 20 days in contact with the skins.

Ageing

The wine matures for 15 months in barriques, using a combination of new and second-use barrels.

Technical data

Alcohol: 15% vol.

Tasting profile

Intense ruby red. The nose is rich, fruity and sweet-toned, with the characteristic expression of ripe Cabernet. The palate is complex and firmly structured, with polished, silky and enveloping tannins. Varietal notes carry through a long, persistent finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 15–16°C. Pair with substantial red-meat dishes, well-aged cheeses, game or roasts.

Label / history

First produced in 2008, this is the estate's interpretation of the Mediterranean character, refinement and elegance associated with Bolgheri's major red wines.
