Vineyard and terroir

Lagrein is grown in warm sites on both the southeast- and southwest-facing sides of a mountain ridge. The calcareous soils contain clay and sand. Mediterranean warmth meets cool air from the surrounding Dolomites. The grapes are harvested by hand and subjected to rigorous selection.

Grapes

100% Lagrein.

Vinification

Traditional temperature-controlled fermentation lasts approximately 10 days in stainless-steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation follows in 70 hL and 22 hL barrels made from French and Slavonian oak.

Ageing

The wine matures in large wooden barrels.

Technical data

The 2025 wine has 13.00% alcohol, total acidity of 4.9 g/L and residual sugar of 3.1 g/L. It is bottled in 0.75 L and has an estimated ageing capacity of 5–7 years.

Tasting profile

An intense, dense garnet red. The complex bouquet combines restrained spice and cocoa with wild berries and sweet cherries. The palate shows distinctive tannins, smooth fullness, youthful freshness and a playful yet rustic elegance, ending in a long, juicy finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18°C. Pair with full-flavoured savoury dishes, venison, game, red meat or mature cheeses.

Vintage notes

The 2025 harvest began on 27 August and concluded a little over a month later. Relatively early flowering was followed by a warm, dry June. A notably cooler July helped maintain freshness and acidity, while August brought favourable ripening conditions. September alternated between sunshine and occasional rain toward the end of harvest, and the fruit reached the cellar healthy and well balanced.
