Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from one of the Langhe’s last ancient vineyards. Ungrafted Barbera vines more than 100 years old grow at sufficient altitude to protect them from phylloxera, in sandy soils rich in limestone. Propagated from cuttings rather than grafted, the vines have retained the variety’s original characteristics. Yields are extremely low, producing concentrated, richly flavoured fruit.
Vinification
The wine undergoes traditional vinification.
Ageing
It rests for one year in Slavonian oak barrels, followed by six months in bottle. The oak adds aromatic depth and softens the texture, while bottle maturation allows the wine to develop gradually and become harmonious.
Tasting profile
Vivid and full-flavoured, with concentrated aromas, a soft texture and a layered, harmonious character.
Label / history
The Cogno family has made wine for four generations, passing its traditions from father to son.
