Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards occupy 4 ha at the top of Mombirone, one of the hills surrounding Canale. Their eastern, southern and western exposures help balance variations in ripeness between vintages and support consistent quality. The clay-limestone soils are well suited to Barbera, and the vines are more than 40 years old.
Tasting profile
Powerful yet elegant, with an intense aroma, excellent structure and good acidity.
Serving and pairing
Pairs with slow-cooked meats and medium-aged cheeses.
Label / history
The Monchiero-Carbone family began cultivating the Mombirone cru in 1918, when great-grandmother Tilda purchased its first small plot, already planted with Barbera. The hill is historically associated with the sanctuary at its summit, dedicated to the Madonna di Mombirone.
