Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards are situated at approximately 400–500 metres above sea level. Their predominantly sandy soils contain a substantial limestone skeleton and deep gravel layers. The vines are Guyot-trained, 5–20 years old and yield 45 hl/ha.
Grapes
Pinot Nero.
Vinification
Traditional fermentation on the skins lasts 12 days and incorporates a proportion of whole grapes.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in barriques.
Technical data
Alcohol: 13.5%. Acidity: 5.2 g/L. Residual sugar: 1.4 g/L.
Tasting profile
Bright ruby red with light garnet reflections. The characteristic Pinot Nero bouquet offers delicate cherry aromas and a touch of vanilla. Elegant and well structured, the palate carries lively tannins into a poised finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 14–16 °C. Pair with meat dishes, roasts and game, or with fish and seafood. Ageing potential is 6–8 years.

The variety is known internationally under several names: Spätburgunder in Germany, Pinot Noir in France and Pinot Nero in Italy.
