Vineyard and terroir
The Chardonnay is grown at Tenuta di Tauriano. The vineyards occupy terraces on gently sloping hills at 400 metres above sea level. The soils are rich in limestone and gravel.
The surrounding Alps shelter the area from harsh, cold winds, while the Adriatic Sea tempers summer heat and sudden winter temperature changes. Sea breezes move north towards the hills at dawn and return to the coast in the evening, helping to restrict fungal disease. Rainfall is generally intense but brief, and the climate is bright and sunny.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested mechanically from late August to early September, then crushed, destemmed and cooled. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at 18 °C.
Ageing
The wine rests for six months in stainless-steel tanks.
