Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow at Tenuta di Tauriano in the Friuli Grave area, on gently sloping hillside terraces at 400 metres above sea level. The wider Friuli-Venezia Giulia landscape comprises coastal plains, mountains and plateaus. The Alps protect the area from harsh, cold winds, while the Adriatic Sea cools hot summers and moderates sharp winter temperature fluctuations. Sea breezes move north towards the hills at dawn and return south towards the coast in the evening, helping to curb fungal diseases and maintain vine health. Rainfall is generally heavy but brief, and the climate is bright and sunny.
Vinification
After harvest, the grapes are crushed and undergo fermentation in stainless-steel tanks at no more than 25 °C. Maceration on the skins lasts around 10 days before pressing.
Ageing
The wine matures for six months in stainless-steel tanks.
