Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are quality-selected at Farnetella in the commune of Sinalunga, southeast of Siena and northwest of Montepulciano. Podere Lucilla covers approximately 10 ha; its vineyard is southwest-facing and lies at an average elevation of 350 m. The soils comprise layers of sand and silt, some clay, and more substantial rocky and limestone components. Planting density is approximately 5,400 vines per hectare. The vines are vertically trained and spur-pruned on cordons.
Grapes
Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Vinification
Harvest timing varies with elevation but falls within the first two weeks of October. Quality-selected grapes are destemmed and pressed. Fermentation takes place at 28–30 °C, accompanied by 10–12 days of maceration and programmed daily punch-downs. Drawing off and racking follow fermentation.
Ageing
In March–April, the wine is transferred to small, medium and large oak botti for 8–12 months, followed by 4–6 months in bottle.

Tasting profile
Brilliant ruby red with notable depth. The nose is elegantly fruity, opening toward cherry with light spicy nuances. The palate is full and firmly structured, with velvety tannins.
