Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The estate comprises around 50 small vineyards near Noto in eastern Sicily, south of Syracuse. They lie about 1.6 km from the coast at 70 m above sea level, on gentle south- and north-facing slopes. The vines are 12–40 years old. The black volcanic soils are mineral-rich, with a high proportion of limestone and a small amount of sandstone.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand, carefully sorted and gently destemmed. Vinification takes place without skin contact, with alcoholic fermentation in open vats.
Ageing
The wine matures in stainless-steel tanks to preserve its delicate bouquet.
Tasting profile
Elegant, with a delicate floral and fruity bouquet.
Label / history
Feudo Maccari arose from a project undertaken by Antonio Moretti, owner of Sette Ponti. Acting on the advice of oenologist Carlo Ferrini, he began acquiring small farm plots near Noto in 2000, leading to the creation of the estate. The acquired plots were planted with the local varieties Grillo, Insolia and Nero d’Avola.
