Label / history
Feudo Maccari was created after Antonio Moretti, owner of Sette Ponti, began acquiring small farm plots near Noto in 2000 on the advice of oenologist Carlo Ferrini. The estate now comprises around 50 small vineyards in eastern Sicily, south of Syracuse. Its plots, planted with Grillo, Inzolia and Nero d’Avola, occupy gentle south- and north-facing slopes about one mile from the coast and 70 metres above sea level. The vines range from 12 to 40 years old. The dark volcanic soils are rich in minerals, with a high proportion of limestone and a small amount of sandstone.
