Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The east-facing plots lie at 700 m above sea level and have sandy, stony soils. The 35-year-old vines are organically farmed.
Grapes
The vines were grafted from old Nerello Mascalese “mother” vines preserved at Feudo Montoni.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand into small crates. Fermentation begins naturally in concrete vessels, followed by spontaneous malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine matures without contact with wood: 18 months in cement vats followed by two months in bottle.
Tasting profile
The absence of wood preserves a delicate structure and restrained texture.
Label / history
Fabio Sireci’s grandfather, Elio, first made the wine in 1970. Fabio revived it 50 years later, after considering its name for years. The first vintage of the revived wine coincided with the birth of his eldest son, also named Elio.
