Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow in the hills of Trapani at 250–400 metres above sea level. The medium-textured soils are predominantly clay, and the vineyards are planted at a density of 5,000 vines per hectare.
Vinification
Harvest runs from the final ten days of September to early October. Fermentation lasts 10 days in stainless-steel tanks at 24–26 °C.
Tasting profile
The bouquet is bright and fruity. The palate is rounded and warm, with an exceptionally well-balanced character.
Label / history
Firriato was founded in 1985 by Salvatore Di Gaetano in the ancient town of Erice, near Trapani. Under his supervision, the estate expanded through the acquisition of new farms, the creation of new wines, and continuing improvements to its methods and equipment.
