Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow on sunny vineyard slopes in Trapani, Sicily, at 250–400 m above sea level. The sites are exposed to strong winds from the Mediterranean Sea and have mixed, medium-textured soils with a high proportion of clay.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand from late September to early October. Alcoholic fermentation lasts 10 days at 24–28 °C, followed by malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine matures for two months in American oak barriques, followed by one month in bottle before release.
Label / history
Firriato was founded in 1985 by Salvatore Di Gaetano in Erice, near Trapani. Under his supervision, the estate expanded through the acquisition of additional farms, the creation of new wines, and improvements to its winemaking methods and technical equipment.
