Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit is an early harvest selection from all the estate vineyards in Montalcino—Alberello, Quercia, Strada, Lupo and Bosco—with particular emphasis on the most vigorous areas. The vineyards stand at 450 metres above sea level and collectively encompass the estate’s full range of Montalcino soils. The vines are 17–23 years old, planted at densities of 4,000–5,600 vines per hectare and trained as alberello, candelabro and bilateral Guyot. Farming is organic and biodynamic.
Grapes
Sangiovese.
Vinification
Harvest takes place in the first week of September. Fermentation proceeds with indigenous yeasts, accompanied by 20 hours of skin maceration.
Ageing
Approximately seven months in stainless steel.
Vintage notes
The wine closely reflects each growing season and can therefore differ considerably from one vintage to another. In particularly successful years it can mature gracefully in bottle, developing the elegance and character associated with long-aged Sangiovese.
Label / history
First made in 2005, Rosa began as an experiment conceived as a summertime expression of Sangiovese in an area identified with structured red wines.
