Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from Castello di Nipozzano near Florence. The estate’s vineyards cover 250 ha of southeast-facing slopes at 250–500 m above sea level. The soils are dry, stony and well drained, with abundant clay and limestone. Planting density ranges from 2,500 to 6,000 vines per hectare.
Vinification
The grapes were harvested by early October. Each variety was fermented separately in stainless-steel tanks for 13 days at no less than 30 °C. This was followed by 25 days of maceration with frequent pump-overs and malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine matured for 24 months in two- and three-year-old barriques, followed by three months in bottle.
Serving and pairing
Aeration before serving is recommended.
Label / history
