Vineyard and terroir

The vineyards are in Barbaresco, Serralunga and Trezzo Tinella. Sauvignon Blanc was first planted there in 1983.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented for four weeks in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation follows.

Ageing

The wine ages in barriques for approximately six months.

Tasting profile

Elegant, lively and finely balanced, with delicate, interwoven aromas of berries and Mediterranean herbs alongside restrained Sauvignon Blanc notes. Suggestions of old stone walls, cool winds and wild herbs evoke the hills of the Barbaresco region. The texture is silky, leading to a gently salty finish.

Vintage notes

In 2023, a fairly wet winter and cool spring were followed by a summer without excessive heat. Warm days alternated with cool nights, helping the grapes retain excellent acidity.

Label / history

The name combines “alteni,” small stone walls once used to enclose orchards, and “brassica,” the yellow flowers that bloom in the vineyards in spring.
