Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Chardonnay comes from two separate vineyards: one in Treiso, planted in 1979, and one in Serralunga d'Alba, planted in 1989.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness. Fermentation takes place partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in French barriques. Only partial malolactic fermentation is carried out, to preserve the Chardonnay's bright, natural acidity. The winemaking balances tradition with innovation.
Ageing
The wine is aged in oak for 6 to 8 months, mainly in large barrels, which gives it greater purity.
Tasting profile
Classic notes of tropical and citrus fruit, with a delicate touch of vanilla and a hint of hazelnut. Lively acidity and freshness keep it balanced. Elegant and complex.
Serving and pairing
Decant and let it breathe for 15–30 minutes before serving. It can be drunk on its own or with fish, seafood and mature cheeses.
Vintage notes
2023: optimal weather conditions allowed the grapes to ripen fully and show their full aromatic and flavour potential.
Label / history
The wine is named after Angelo Gaja's eldest daughter, Gaia, and her grandmother, Clotilde Rey.
