Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Pinot Nero and Chardonnay are grown in hillside vineyards near Asti and Cuneo. The wine is presented as closely connected to the area's climate.
Vinification
Made by the traditional method in limited quantities. Fermentation takes place first in oak barrels and then in steel tanks, followed by a 40-day second fermentation in bottle.
Ageing
The wine matures for 18 months in the historic Gancia cellars. Conditions are maintained at a consistently low temperature, with subdued lighting and no neon lights, and humidity of approximately 65–70%.
Tasting profile
Refined and modern in style, with light, lively bubbles and an elegant, harmonious character.
Label / history
The wine is dedicated to Carlo Gancia, founder of the house. After studying Champagne production methods for several years in Reims, he established his wine house in 1850. His experimentation with Pinot Nero and Chardonnay led in 1865 to the first traditional-method sparkling wine produced in the cellars of Canelli.
