Vineyard and terroir
The Nebbiolo grows in the Bussia subzone of Monforte d'Alba, Piedmont. The vineyard is small, about 1 hectare, on a hillside at 300 metres above sea level and facing east. The vines are 15 years old on average.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in mid-October and carefully selected. Fermentation is traditional, in stainless-steel vats, on the skins and without added yeast, and lasts 10–12 days.
Ageing
The wine rests 6 months in stainless steel, then 6 months in Slavonian oak barrels, followed by some further time in bottle after bottling.
Tasting profile
Very fresh and juicy. The aroma is straightforward but clean and refined. The palate is full and highly drinkable, supported by well-made, approachable tannins. It is best enjoyed young.
