Vineyard and terroir

Monvigliero comes from the celebrated eponymous MeGA in Verduno. The vineyard occupies an amphitheatre-shaped hillside near the Tanaro River, with a predominantly southern exposure and particularly loose soils. These conditions shape an elegant, expansive and complex Barolo. Production is extremely limited.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo. The bunches are selected manually during the October harvest.

Vinification

Maceration takes place in stainless-steel tanks for approximately 14 days.

Ageing

The wine matures for 30 months in 700 L barrels that have seen at least four previous uses.

Technical data

The 2020 production comprised 847 numbered bottles. The 2021 release is presented in a 750 ml format.

Tasting profile

Elegant, broad and complex.

Serving and pairing

Suitable for red-meat and game main courses, mushroom-based first and main courses, and mature cheeses. The stated cellaring potential is 20 years.

Label / history

The inaugural release was the 2016 vintage.
