Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Le Grottine vineyard, planted in 1978, and Felciaino, planted in 1986. Yields are around 800 g per vine, contributing concentration and aromatic depth. The vineyards have alluvial, limestone-bearing soils with good drainage. A warm climate, maritime influence and steady winds promote even ripening; warm days build ripeness and concentration, while cool nights preserve acidity.
Grapes
The blend comprises 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and capacity for development, Merlot contributes softness and roundness, and Cabernet Franc adds aromatic complexity with spicy and herbal notes.
Vinification
Harvesting is staggered: Merlot is picked in early September and the Cabernet varieties in October. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel vats with native yeasts.
Ageing
The wine matures for at least 18 months in French oak barriques, combining new barrels with vessels in their second or third use. The oak contributes complexity and notes of spice, tobacco and gentle wood without obscuring the fruit or disrupting the balance.
Tasting profile
Powerful yet elegant and well structured, with concentrated, rich flavours, aromatic depth and a silky texture. Softness and roundness are accompanied by spicy and herbal notes, balanced acidity and a firm structure.
Serving and pairing
Suited to elaborate dishes.
