Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from the company's own vineyards in Alto Adige, at 350–450 m above sea level. The site faces east, on sandy, gravelly soils rich in dolomite. The Alps shield the area from cold air masses from the north, so warm, humid air from Lake Garda and the Mediterranean Sea plays a key role in shaping the local climate. Warm Mediterranean days followed by cool nights help the grapes develop their full aromatic potential and give the wine an extra touch of inviting spice.
Vinification
Winemaking begins with cold maceration in the press. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
Ageing
The wine spends some time on its fine lees in the same stainless steel tanks.
Vintage notes
2020: The winter in Alto Adige was relatively mild, followed by a rainy March and a dry, warm April. Flowering began slightly earlier than usual. The summer had no prolonged periods of extreme heat, but the growing season was short and the first grapes were harvested in early September. The 2020 white wines are marked by appealing acidity.
