Grapes
A blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera.
Vinification
Maceration and alcoholic fermentation take place in temperature-controlled vats for an average of 14–15 days. Malolactic fermentation is completed in second- and third-use French oak barrels.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months after malolactic fermentation, followed by approximately six months of bottle ageing.
Technical data
Average production is 8,000 bottles. The first vintage was 1989.
Tasting profile
Nebbiolo and Barbera combine to produce aromas of fruit, flowers and spices. Tannins and acidity are held in balance, giving the wine a gastronomic character.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 16–17 °C in a Bordeaux glass. Its balance of tannin and acidity makes it a versatile partner for food.
Label / history
Pin is conceived as a postcard from Piedmont and an expression of the Rivetti family's affection for its land. Its name recalls Giuseppe Rivetti, known as “Pin,” who passed this attachment to his sons Carlo, Bruno and Giorgio.
