Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from hillside vineyards in Montalcino, situated at varying elevations and exposed to sunlight until sunset. Their average elevation is 250 m above sea level. The vines used for this selection are more than 23 years old and trained to a balanced bilateral cordon. The soil is tuffaceous clay with abundant skeletal material.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese Grosso.
Vinification
Medium-long skin maceration is accompanied by frequent pumping over, with the temperature controlled to a maximum of 28°C.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in new Slavonian oak barrels. The stated minimum bottle maturation differs between sections: at least six months in the overview and ageing description, but at least four months in the production description.
Technical data
Alcohol: 14.5%. Annual production: 10,000 bottles.
Tasting profile
Clear ruby red. The broad, persistent bouquet emphasizes fresh fruit and cherry. The palate is well structured, with soft fruit, rose and peony notes, refreshing acidity and a long finish. Its rich, unhurried texture is anchored by firm tannins.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18°C in a balloon glass. Pair with pasta, meat, chicken and medium-aged cheeses.
