Vineyard and terroir

The La Fiorita estate lies on the border between Umbria and Tuscany, between the southern shore of Lake Trasimeno and the medieval town of Panicale. It covers approximately 100 ha, including 32 ha of vineyards. The soils are clay-limestone, and the mild climate combines warm summers with cool nights, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly. Some vineyards date from the 1970s. Planting density is approximately 5,500 vines/ha, with yields limited to no more than 1 kg per vine.

Grapes

The blend comprises equal proportions of Sangiovese and Merlot. Sangiovese contributes structure, lively acidity and clear fruit notes, while Merlot provides softness, roundness and a velvety texture.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand, with bunches selected at optimal ripeness. Skin maceration lasts approximately 18 days. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in French oak barriques.

Ageing

Sangiovese and Merlot mature separately for 12 months in new barrels, followed by 12 months in bottle.

Tasting profile

Powerful and complex, with concentrated fruit, lively acidity, firm structure and minerality. Oak ageing contributes spice, vanilla and rich oak notes, alongside soft, mature tannins. The texture is velvety, soft and rounded, and the wine is balanced and elegantly complex.

Label / history

Ferruccio Lamborghini founded the winery in the 1960s after leaving the car business and returning to his agricultural roots. His daughter, Patrizia Lamborghini, has managed the estate since the 1990s. The winery works with enologist Riccardo Cotarella.
