Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards are near the Adriatic Sea in Friuli Grave. Their clay-limestone soils are rich in trace elements. The vines are 36 years old and planted at a density of 4,300 per hectare.
Tenuta Maccan’s 23 ha estate lies in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Its soils contain dolomitic limestone and mineral deposits, with a mixture of clay and pebbles suited to red-wine production.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in the final ten days of September and carefully sorted. The selected fruit undergoes temperature-controlled maceration for 12–15 days, followed by gentle pressing. The must ferments in temperature-controlled tanks, and malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless-steel vats.
Label / history
