Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie in Friuli-Venezia Giulia between the Alps and the Adriatic. Moisture arrives from the coast, while the hills provide protection from intense sunlight. The Sauvignon grows in clay-limestone soils rich in trace elements. Across Tenuta Maccan’s 23 ha, the soils contain dolomitic limestone and mineral deposits; the high limestone content favours white-wine production.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in the middle ten days of September. They undergo cold pre-fermentation maceration for 24–48 hours, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine rests on its fine lees.
Label / history
