Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from 15-year-old vines grown in sandy moraine soil at 650 m above sea level. The high altitude contributes freshness and minerality to the wine.
Vinification
After harvest the grapes are chilled. Fermentation lasts 12 days in stainless steel tanks at 24 °C, with the must pumped over daily.
Ageing
The wine ages for 12 months in 300-litre French oak barrels, followed by 6 months in bottle.
Label / history
Les Crêtes has produced the wine since 1995. It was previously called "Coteau La Tour", after the vineyard whose name appeared on the label. At first it was classified as a table wine, because Valle d'Aosta had not yet been recognised as a DOP area. The law changed in 2007, and the wine now has official DOP status.
