Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards are in the Friuli Isonzo area, on alluvial soils comprising clay, gravel and sand and enriched by material deposited during floods of the Isonzo River. Rainfall is comparatively frequent. Between the Adriatic Sea and the surrounding mountain ranges, the vines are exposed to both warm and cool air. Marked differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures influence grape development.
Vinification
After harvest, the grapes are destemmed and crushed. A short maceration is followed by gentle pressing. The must is drained and settled to remove sediment, then fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine remains on its lees in stainless-steel tanks for six months, with regular bâtonnage.
