Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from a careful selection of estate-grown vines.
Grapes
Merlot makes up the larger part of the Sangiovese–Merlot blend.
Vinification
Each harvested lot is brought to the cellar separately, with care taken to keep the grapes intact. After selection, the fruit macerates on the skins for 20 days to extract tannins and aromas. Fermentation proceeds for 10 days at 28 °C in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, using yeasts naturally present on the grapes, followed by gentle pressing. Malolactic fermentation takes place in steel tanks to soften the acidity.
Ageing
The 2023 vintage aged for 12 months in the estate’s cellars, partly in new oak barrels and partly in previously used barrels. It was bottled in June 2025.
Tasting profile
Elegant, rich and fruit-forward, with aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry and redcurrant accompanied by graphite. Subtle matchstick and toasted-bread notes reflect the oak ageing. The palate offers juicy black berries and ripe cherry, with delicate spice adding complexity.
Serving and pairing
Best paired with meat dishes.
Vintage notes
The 2023 season began with a relatively mild, dry winter, interrupted by snowfall in late January. A particularly changeable spring brought heavy rain in May and June, while rapid vine growth required careful vineyard work. July and August were hot, with peaks in temperature, although frequent thunderstorms eased the vineyards’ water shortage and supported gradual ripening.
Merlot harvest began on 1 September, followed by Sangiovese from the second week of the month. Sunny days and cool nights preserved aromatic freshness and enabled excellent polyphenolic ripeness.
