Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from selected plots in Las Compuertas and Agrelo in Luján de Cuyo and in Gualtallary and Altamira in the Uco Valley. The Uco Valley vineyards stand at an average of 1,050 metres and have an average vine age of 20 years; the Luján de Cuyo vineyards average 900 metres and 30 years of age.

Grapes

100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vinification

For the 2024 vintage, the grapes were harvested by hand into 18–20 kg boxes. Bunch selection was followed by destemming and berry selection. The must underwent cold maceration for five to seven days at 8–10°C, then fermented in small stainless-steel tanks with regular punch-downs and délestage.

Ageing

After alcoholic fermentation, the wine went into oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and 12 months of ageing. The final blend was then assembled, filtered and bottled. It rested in the cellar for at least six months before release.

Technical data

The 2024 vintage has 14.0% alcohol, total acidity of 5.5, pH 3.6 and 2.7 g/L residual sugar. Cellaring potential is 10 years.

Tasting profile

The 2024 is an intense, deep red. Ripe black fruit, subtle spice and a pleasant herbal background define the nose. The palate is firm and balanced, with polished tannins and good freshness, ending persistently and harmoniously. The broader collection profile adds pepper and roasted barrel notes, together with a compact, tense, full-bodied structure.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 15–18°C.

Label / history

De Sangre began as the family’s way of identifying chosen cuvées to share with those closest to them, a tradition maintained for more than 125 years.
