Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from selected plots in Las Compuertas and Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo. The vineyards stand at an average altitude of 800 metres, and the vines average 30 years of age.

Grapes

Blend proportions vary by vintage. Latest published vintage (2024): 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Syrah and 10% Merlot.

Vinification

For the 2024 vintage, the grapes were picked by hand into 18–20 kg boxes. Bunch selection was followed by destemming and berry selection. The must underwent a five-to-seven-day cold maceration at 8–10°C, then fermented in small stainless-steel tanks with regular punch-downs and délestage. The varieties were handled separately through vinification and maturation.

Ageing

Each component went into oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and 12 months of ageing. The final blend was then assembled, filtered and bottled. It rested in the cellar for at least six months before release.

Technical data

The 2024 vintage has 13.80% alcohol, total acidity of 2.8, pH 3.6 and 5.18 g/L residual sugar. Cellaring potential is 10 years.

Tasting profile

The 2024 wine is an attractive garnet red. Ripe black fruit is joined by subtle herbal and spicy nuances. The palate is approachable and enveloping, with delicate tannins, good freshness, pronounced character and acidity, followed by a long, complex and deep finish. The collection’s broader description also evokes black pepper, tea and light smoky oak tones, with a compact, ripe and rounded texture.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 15–18°C.

Label / history

De Sangre was the traditional designation for the winery’s chosen blends, reserved for sharing with those closest to the family. The custom has continued for more than 125 years.
