Vineyard and terroir
The Nebbiolo comes from the estate’s old vineyards in Borgato Terlo. The site lies at 305 metres above sea level, faces southeast and has marl and limestone soils. Its oldest Nebbiolo vines were planted in 1962, with younger plantings dating from around 2000. Planting density is 4,500 vines per hectare.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks at 30–36 °C for 8–10 days. Decanting and malolactic fermentation follow.
Ageing
The wine matures for two years in 30-hectolitre French oak casks, followed by one year in bottle.
Tasting profile
The bouquet is aromatic and continues to reveal new notes over time. The flavour is intense and persistent.
