Vineyard and terroir
Two-thirds of the fruit comes from Lieben Aich at Terlan and one-third from the Campan vineyard at Kaltern. Lieben Aich occupies a warm, west-facing slope at 300 m, with well-drained sandy soil over weathered porphyry bedrock. Campan is a cooler, east-facing mountainside site at 500 m, where clay-rich soils contain morainic deposits.
Grapes
The 2025 Terlaner DOC blend is 55% Pinot Blanc, 28% Chardonnay and 17% Sauvignon Blanc.
Vinification
The grapes were destemmed and macerated in the press for six hours to extract aromatic material and body. Fermentation took place in oak barrels with naturally occurring vineyard yeasts.
Ageing
The young wine matured on its fine lees for nine months, developing and integrating its aromas and flavours.
Technical data
Vintage 2025 has 12.5% alcohol, 6.3 g/L acidity and 0.9 g/L residual sugar. Yield was 57 hL/ha. Production totalled 56,300 standard bottles and 786 magnums. The wine is biodynamic, Respekt-BIODYN certified and vegan.
Tasting profile
Full yellow with green reflections. Apple, apricot and a touch of sage shape the nose. The palate is tightly knit, elegant and mellow, finishing with refreshing acidity.
Serving and pairing
Serve lightly chilled at approximately 8–10 °C. Pair with roast salmon fillet under a herb breadcrumb crust, starters or white meats. Optimal maturity runs from summer 2026 through the end of 2036.
Vintage notes
Early budbreak and a warm spring brought flowering by mid-May in 2025. Sunshine and moderate rain through July and August supported healthy grapes and promising ripeness. Rain in September made vineyard work and careful hand harvesting particularly important. The grapes for La Contessa were collected from early through late September.
