Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from four vineyards on clay and limestone soils: San Martino at 400 m, Ripa Teatina at 250 m, Loreto Aprutino at 350 m and Controguerra at 220 m.
Grapes
Trebbiano is blended with small amounts of Chardonnay and Cococciola. Cococciola is relatively rare and is found in Abruzzo mainly in Masciarelli’s vineyards; it is traditionally used in blends to bring balance.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in late September. After 19 hours of cold maceration, the must ferments for 30 days at 16 °C.
Ageing
The wine rests for five months in stainless-steel tanks and is bottled in February.
Tasting profile
The 2011 vintage is gently textured, with elegant notes of peach, mint and flowers. Mineral notes bring freshness and frame the finish.
