Storia
In 2005, Federica and Cesare Turillo left city life and moved to the northern slope of Mount Etna, where they created Masseria del Pino as a fully self-sufficient farm producing everything they needed themselves.
Once the vineyards had been carefully tended and reached their full potential, the roughly 3,000 bottles made from each harvest exceeded the couple's own needs. They began selling the surplus to friends and local shops.
Terroir
Masseria del Pino lies on the northern slope of Mount Etna in Sicily, in a peaceful, rural setting.
Vinificazione
The land is managed according to biodynamic principles. Federica and Cesare Turillo work the soil day by day by hand. The farm was set up to be fully self-sufficient.
Each harvest yields about 3,000 bottles. Wine was first made for the owners' own use; the surplus is now sold to friends and local shops.
Filosofia
The owners set out to run Masseria del Pino as a fully self-sufficient farm, producing everything they need themselves. They are described as hardworking farmers, "Los campesinos", who manage the land biodynamically and work it by hand. The estate reflects the peaceful, rural side of Etna and stands apart from the recent rush of investment in modern wineries on the mountain.
