Vineyard and terroir
Selected Sangiovese grapes were drawn from each of the estate’s five macro-areas: Meleto, San Piero, Casi, Poggiarso and Moci. The selection was designed to express the range of soils and microclimates across the property.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese.
Vinification
Following careful selection in the vineyard, grapes from each macro-area were vinified separately. Several assemblages were subsequently prepared and evaluated through repeated tasting sessions before the final combination was chosen.
Ageing
The separate lots were matured to allow Sangiovese to express itself clearly, with deliberately restrained use of wood.
Tasting profile
Elegant and complex, with clearly defined fruit notes. Its fresh acidity gives the wine balance and points toward rewarding evolution in bottle.
Vintage notes
This limited-edition 2016 Chianti Classico DOCG was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of Viticola Toscana.
Label / history
The special label takes its inspiration from historic Castello di Meleto bottles. The wine and its presentation were conceived together as an anniversary edition.
