Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie in Veneto, northeast of Verona, on the hill separating Montorio from Valle d’Illasi. They comprise 20 hectares trained to Guyot and 5 hectares under the traditional Pergola Veronese system. Plantings date from 1995 to 2022. The calcareous ground contains red clay and tuff. Planting density is 6,000 vines per hectare under Guyot and 4,500 under pergola, with a yield of 1 kg per vine.
Grapes
50% Corvina and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Vinification
Harvest takes place in September, with Cabernet Sauvignon picked approximately one week before Corvina. Both varieties undergo post-harvest drying. Cabernet Sauvignon is pressed after two weeks, while Corvina remains in crates for as long as three weeks. The varieties are vinified separately.
Ageing
The two wines mature for 18 months in tonneaux. Cabernet Sauvignon rests in new tonneaux, while Corvina uses vessels that are one or two years old. After blending, the wine rests for several additional months before bottling.
Technical data

Vintage notes
The 2018 season was broadly regular in rainfall and temperature, although summer continued the dry, hot pattern of the preceding four years. Heavy rain in May did not compromise vine or fruit development. Following a low-yielding preceding vintage, the crop was abundant. Limited rainfall sustained the vines until early September, when substantial precipitation accelerated ripening and brought harvest forward. The picking team was enlarged for the first time so that grapes could be harvested at optimal ripeness. The balance of the crop and vineyard care resulted in a particularly successful vintage.
