Vineyard and terroir

The steep Sirmian slopes lie above Nalles at 500–700 m and face south-east. Their permeable morainic deposit was formed by glaciers from the Western Alps and contains limestone, gneiss, mica, slate and marble over ancient porphyry bedrock. Mild summers and cool autumns under an Alpine climate extend the growing season and permit a late harvest in mid-October.

Grapes

100% Pinot Bianco.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand and receive a brief pre-fermentation maceration. The clarified must ferments for approximately three weeks in 12 and 30 hl wooden barrels.

Ageing

The young wine remains on its lees for a further eight months.

Technical data

Alto Adige DOC.

Tasting profile

Bright straw yellow with notable depth. The clean aroma combines pink grapefruit and kiwi with a suggestion of thyme. The palate is full-bodied, deep and flavourful, ending in an impressively long finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 10–12 °C with spaghetti and sardines or white fish stew. Store at 10–13 °C with at least 60% humidity.
