Label / history
The wine evokes the longstanding wine culture of Chianti. Evidence of viticulture in the area reaches back to Etruscan and Roman times, while the earliest documents using Chianti for both a wine-producing area and its wine date to the thirteenth century. Those records concern the Lega del Chianti, established in Florence to regulate administrative relations with the districts of Radda, Gaiole and Castellina, now within the Chianti Classico production zone. The league's emblem—a black rooster on a golden field—later became the symbol of the Chianti Classico consortium.
