Storia
Orestiadi was founded by the Di Maria family. It takes its name from the Orestiadi Foundation, an institution created to preserve the cultural heritage of Gibellina. The Belice Valley, from which the Marchese di Montefusco range comes, once belonged to the Montefusco family.
Terroir
The Belice Valley lies between Selinunte and the hills of old Gibellina. It once belonged to the Montefusco family.
Vinificazione
Grapes for the "Rilento" range are grown biodynamically and carry the relevant eco-certification. The "Marchese di Montefusco" wines rely on careful vineyard management and the selection of only the finest fruit.
Orestiadi offers four ranges:
- Orestiadi: wines named after the main characters of the Oresteia trilogy: Agamemnon, Clytemnestra, Aegisthus and Cassandra.
- Molino a Vento: a range of local wines.
- Rilento: wines from biodynamically grown grapes, with eco-certification.
- Marchese di Montefusco: varietal wines from traditional grape varieties grown in the Belice Valley, combining Sicilian grape-growing traditions and culture with modern winemaking methods.
Winemaking uses modern winemaking and storage technology alongside tradition.
Filosofia
The winery aims to ensure quality while preserving each wine's local identity and distinctive character, combining modern technology with tradition and respect for the environment. It holds that the quality of the "Marchese di Montefusco" wines comes from careful vineyard management and the selection of only the finest fruit.
