Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from 60-year-old vines on a southeast-facing hillside near Serralunga, at around 300 m. The low-fertility soils are a mixture of clay and limestone. The bowl-shaped terrain shelters the vines from sudden changes in temperature and weather.
Vinification
Slightly overripe grapes are harvested by hand, contributing greater concentration and a distinctive fullness of flavour. After pressing, the juice remains in contact with the skins for around 14 days. Fermentation takes place in conical steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine matures for 24 months, partly in large Slavonian oak casks and partly in French oak barrels. The separate lots are then blended, followed by at least one further year in bottle in the cellar.
Tasting profile
Concentrated, with a distinctive fullness of flavour.
