Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
Nero d’Avola from Sicily. The wine is associated with fire in the Memoro Four Elements project. Its presentation connects this theme to Mount Etna’s creative and destructive character, the lava flows that have shaped Sicily, and ideas of resilience, transformation, and renewal.
Grapes
100% Nero d’Avola. The variety gives the wine a robust profile combining dark-fruit character with finesse.
Ageing
The 2022 product sheet specifies six months of maturation, divided between large barrels (60%) and tonneaux (40%).
Technical data
Blend proportions vary by vintage. Latest published composition: 100% Nero d’Avola.
Tasting profile
Deep red in colour. Ripe blackberry and spicy black-pepper aromas lead to a rich, full-bodied palate of dark cherry, plum, and tobacco. The finish is long and velvety, with lingering dark fruit and subtle earthy nuances.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 16°C according to the 2022 product sheet; the 2024 shop listing recommends 18–20°C. Pair with grilled meats, tomato-based pasta sauces, or mushroom risotto.
Label / history
Memoro began in 2011, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of Italian unification, as a blend joining Nero d’Avola from Sicily, Primitivo from Puglia, Montepulciano from Abruzzo, and Merlot from Veneto. The Four Elements project later separated that blend into four varietal wines, assigning Nero d’Avola to fire.
